Caring for the Caregiver
CEI’s “Caring for the Caregiver” Program enhances comprehensive care coordination for our participants by providing information, skills training, and support for family and other unpaid caregivers (CGs). It aims to provide our participants’ families and friends much-needed relief from caregiving’s ongoing emotional and physical demands. You will hear from other caregivers who are dealing with the same challenges you are and receive advice and instructions from members of CEI’s medical team.

Sleeping well and stress reduction
Behavior management and bereavement
Memory loss and cognitive decline

Class Description
CEI’s “Caring for the Caregiver” Program enhances comprehensive care coordination for our participants and other seniors by providing information, skills training, and support for family and other unpaid caregivers (CGs). It aims to provide much-needed relief from caregiving’s ongoing emotional and physical demands.
The Series is broken down into one to two hour weekly sessions for six - eight weeks and is offered multiple times a year. All sessions take place in a confidential, welcoming support group setting, facilitated by medical professionals, i.e. a nurse educator and a social worker.
Attendees will hear from other caregivers who are dealing with the same challenges and receive advice and instructions from members of CEI’s medical team on the following topics:
- Self-care for the caregiver
- Home safety and fall prevention
- Sleeping well
- Stress reduction (2 sessions)
- Memory loss and cognitive decline
- Behavior management
- End-of-life planning and bereavement
