2020 PACE Party—Online for the very first time!
When our annual PACE Party fundraiser was canceled, the needs of our seniors remained the same. In fact, we knew caring for the most vulnerable populations —seniors and people with disabilities—during a global crisis was going to be hard and costly, but no one could have predicted the extremities we are all facing now. And as our participants continue to shelter-in-place, we are grateful to our supporters who have helped us keep 1,000+ seniors fed, connected, and with plenty to do safely inside their homes.
To meet the immediate needs of seniors—their daily lunches, personal care items, wellness check-ups and in-home doctor visits for those with chronic illnesses, CEI took action. That action included the creation of our first PACE Party Online Fundraiser—a virtual event to raise awareness and funds for seniors. We called you, our dedicated sponsors, vendors, and 250+ annual PACE PARTY guests to ask for your support. We hoped to raise $100,000—half of what we typically raise at the event in the past. We knew you’d answer the call and you did, helping CEI raise $130,000 to support the programs that are a lifeline to our seniors! Thank you!
We will always need and appreciate your support! Any donations will continue help sustain our seniors well past the COVID-19 public health crisis we are facing now.
You can still give! Check out the Fund-A-Need donation levels below and click the Donate Now button to get started.

Our dynamic duo, Comedian & Radio Personality Sandy Stec and Actor & Comedian Clinton Jackson supported CEI by using Instagram Live to share sweet stories about elders dear to their hearts and helped bring awareness to the needs of CEI seniors as they shelter in their homes during the COVID-19 crisis.
Sandy Stec is 1/2 of "Marcus and Sandy"- a highly rated morning radio show in San Francisco on Star 101.3. (Weekdays, 6am-10am.) For almost 20 years, she's worked her way up from a weekend shift in San Jose, to her current status- mornings in the 4th largest radio market in the country. Additionally, she can be heard on her sister-station in Los Angeles- KOST 103.5. She is also a hilarious and HIGHLY booked stand-up comedian. She's worked with greats like Kevin Hart, Chelsea Handler, Arsenio Hall, Dana Carvey, Craig Shoemaker, Richard Lewis, Brett Butler, and many, many more. She's worked for corporations like HP, Benefit Cosmetics, Caymus Vineyards; and her recent Britney Spears parody "Snack B**ch" made it on TV's "Right This Minute."
Though extremely driven, Sandy does have a weakness for buttercream frosting, and penny slot machines.
Born and raised in Oakland, California, Clinton Jackson officially claimed his identity as a stand-up comic at the young age of 9. After graduating high school, Clinton began to hone his craft in San Francisco’s thriving comedy scene, quickly moving up the ranks to become one of the city’s youngest headliners. Guest appearances on family friendly networks The Disney Channel and Nickelodeon showcased Clinton’s trademark guy-next-door appeal. His recent appearances include ABC’s “THE GOLDBERGS”, “FRESH OFF THE BOAT”, Disney’s “COOP & CAMI ASK THE WORLD”, Starz “BLUNT TALK”, CW’’s “JANE THE VIRGIN”, ABC FREEFORM “YOUNG AND HUNGRY”.
When not performing, Clinton takes it outside to “hype” the teams of the Tough Mudder Competitions.
Congratulations! You helped raise $169,000 for our PACE Party 2019 that provided our older adults with comprehensive support services, home delivered meals, and the socialization they desperately need to safely and independently remain in their homes. THANK YOU.
Last year’s PACE Party was CEI’s most successful fundraiser to date with more than 80 sponsors and dozens of individual donors. Our 250 guests networked, enjoyed a signature cocktail – the “Hubba Hubba” and “PACE Maker,” and relished the spectacular sunset over the Berkeley Hills…all while raising funds for our older adults and people with disabilities.
Rasheedah Mwongozi was honored as our Outstanding Caregiver for her untiring devotion to providing her brother, Oliver, with exceptional care following his life altering stroke. Oliver, who has been enrolled at CEI for 14-years, relearned how to speak, walk, read, and write thanks to the rehabilitative services he received at CEI’s Downtown Oakland Center.
Every PACE Party donor truly makes a difference in the lives of our older adults. We look forward to celebrating with you in person again next year.
One of the most challenging parts of the COVID-19 pandemic is that it has heightened the needs of the participants that depend on CEI daily. Your patronage during our PACE Party Online Fundraiser has allowed us to respond to our seniors’ needs as they shelter-in-place, including delivery of healthy meals, personal care and activity supplies, protective equipment and transportation. We have also provided them with iPads and computers, along with training on these devices, which has allowed them access to telemedicine, online entertainment, at-home workouts and the ability to keep in touch with family and friends. We could not have done this without you!
Stay safe and save the date! CEI’s next PACE Party will take place on May 6, 2021 at the University Club at UC Berkeley. We look forward to raising our glasses together again soon!
