Emily Hoshida is the Center Director of the Center for Elders’ Independence PACE Center in Berkeley. Emily was a Human Resources Analyst with CEI for 7 years before becoming Center Director in October of 2013. She joined Center for Elders’ Independence in 2006 after working for a home health and hospice agency in Butte County. Emily has demonstrated strong leadership throughout her employment with Center for Elders’ Independence while providing staff training and education, implementing and monitoring workplace safety, and managing worker’s compensation claims. Emily graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences with an option in Health Services Administration from Chico State University.

Dr. Fareeha Hussain Cheema leads the inter-disciplinary team and provides primary medical care for participants at CEI’s Berkeley PACE Center. Before coming to CEI in 2017, she worked at Partners in Primary Care in San Antonio, Texas, and Urgent Care Center with Valley Medical Group in New Jersey. She has been board certified in Internal Medicine since 2013. Dr. Cheema received her medical degree from Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan, and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey. Besides English, Dr. Cheema speaks Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi.

Petrice Kam, RN, PHN, MS, GNP-BC, WCC is a Nurse Practitioner specializing in gerontology and chronic disease in aging adults. She worked at the Suitcase Clinic for the homeless while completing her BA at the University of California, Berkeley, in Interdisciplinary Studies, combining biology, chemistry, medical anthropology, psychology, and medical sociology to understand health from an individual and community perspective. She earned her Master of Science degree at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), while working at the Kaiser Permanente Transitional Critical Care Unit. She is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Gerontology and Wound Care Certified by National Alliance of Woundcare. She remains committed to addressing the world-wide causes of disease, working with diverse communities and helping individuals achieve personal well-being.
