“I am privileged to learn the participants’ personalities and their quirkiness as they become friends at my center.”
The PACE model of healthcare and the CEI mission inspire me every day to come to work. The compassion of the senior leadership team, the staff, and the smiles of the participants make every moment worthwhile and an honor to be here. I am privileged to learn the participants’ personalities and quirkiness as they become friends at my center.
Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I studied nutrition and dietetics earning my Bachelor of Science. Upon graduation, I launched my registered dietitian career in Wisconsin working with seniors who were housebound as well as teaching families how diet plays a large role with various cancer treatments. In 2007, I moved to the San Francisco Bay area and found myself eager to continue to work with seniors and advance my career even further.
I began my career with Center for Elders’ Independence as a registered dietitian in 2008. I worked closely with our participants and the PACE interdisciplinary teams to evaluate and update therapeutic diets and individual preferences. After 8 years, I was thrilled to be promoted to center director to provide leadership and supervision for the day to day operations of the center.
Besides my passion for working with seniors, I am fond of traveling, being outdoors, watching sports on TV, and being at home with my partner and two cats, Ivan and Alex.

“Every day, I am inspired to work with seniors as they value their independence as much as I value theirs. I am passionate about the emphasis of team work to make a big difference in the seniors’ lives.”
Every day, I am inspired to work with seniors as they value their independence as much as I value theirs. I see them continue to enjoy living life to the fullest. I am passionate about the way PACE puts a lot of emphasis on how each team works together to make a difference in the seniors’ lives and to keep them safe at home as long as possible.
As a medical student at the University of Santo Tomas located in the Philippines, I earned my medical degree placing myself on the Dean’s List and graduating with high distinction (cum laude). After completing my studies, I did my geriatric medicine with palliative care training at Mount Sinai St Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. My dedication in working with frail elderly patients has been recognized by the MidAtlantic Medical Directors Association and I was awarded the Outstanding Clinical Physician of the Year 2018.
Currently, I am a Diplomate for the American Board of Internal Medicine and am the primary care physician at Center for Elders’ Independence, San Leandro Center joining in 2019. I’m also an active member of the American Geriatrics Society and American College of Physicians among others. I recently earned my Board Certification in Geriatric Medicine.
I speak English and Filipino fluently as well as medical Spanish and basic Chinese.
When I have time off, I find myself enjoying nature trips and discovering new places worth exploring. I also like to stay active by going to the gym regularly and spending quality time with my family and friends, including our dog at home.

“The PACE healthcare model allows me to deliver holistic care, giving my participants high quality, integrated healthcare in one single location.”
After working as a bedside nurse for four years, I realized that I wanted to specialize in geriatrics. The connections I made inspired me to forge longer-term relationships with my patients. The PACE healthcare model allows me to deliver holistic care, giving my participants high quality, integrated healthcare in one single location. After joining CEI in January 2020, my co-workers' ability to work closely as a team as we address our participants’ many needs inspires me every day.
Graduating summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in nursing, I began my nursing career completing clinical work in three rotations. During my rotation at a senior living center, I found my calling to work with these amazing people and it inspired me to obtain the Gerontological Nursing certification. After earning my first certification, I worked as a clinical nurse at the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, focusing on compassionate, patient-centered care for adults aged 65 and older.
From there, I worked to earn my Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Master of Science degree, also from the University of Pennsylvania. I recently received the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. I am a current member of the California Association for Nurse Practitioners and recently attended a conference on opioid use in long-term care settings.
I speak English, Spanish and Khmer.
When I’m not working, I love to cook and go on hikes with my husband. I am proud to live near the San Leandro Center serving my local community.

“It’s an honor and privilege to talk with folks about what’s important to them and working together to navigate the difficult aspects of aging.”
For me, it is an honor and privilege to help older adults maintain wellness and quality of life in their final years. I love talking to folks about what’s important to them and working together to navigate the difficult aspects of aging. I’ve been working with PACE since 2016 and love collaborating with the team to find creative ways to maintain older adults’ independence and health at home.
Two years after earning my Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I continued my education at the same school for my Doctor of Nursing Practice specializing in Adult Gerontology Primary Care. I started my nursing career as a staff geriatric nurse at UNC Health Care and this began my love for working with this precious population.
I speak English and have a moderate fluency in Spanish.
On the weekends, you’ll find me outside hiking and foraging. Indoors, I spend time with my two adventurous cats, reading, cooking or practicing yoga.
