We opened PACE centers in Livermore, El Sobrante and in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland to provide seniors with nearby access to PACE healthcare services.

Our History
CEI’s Timeline
1982
Community Adult Day Health Services, now called CEI, opens Alameda County’s first ADHC.
1992
CEI becomes the 11th PACE organization in the US and the 2nd PACE organization in California.
1994
Downtown Oakland PACE opens.
2000
PACE Berkeley opens.
2001
Highland PACE Center moves to Eastmont Town Center Location.
2006
400 participants enrolled.
2007
CEI and four other California PACE organizations form CalPACE to promote expansion of the PACE model throughout California.
2008
500 participants enrolled.
2009
PACE East Oakland opens.
2011
700 participants enrolled.
2012
Fund for Elders' Independence is founded.
2017
San Leandro PACE opens.
2018
CEI becomes the HCBA administrator for Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
2021
Concord PACE opens.
2022
CEI Foundation formed.
2024
CEI is recognized by the IHI as an Age-Friendly Health System focusing on "What Matters Most" for older adults' health goals and care preferences.
2025
CEI opens new PACE centers in Tri-Valley, West County, and Temescal, doubling our service ability across Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.
