My admiration for elders is deeply rooted in their wisdom. I’ve always had the desire to listen to their life stories and encouraging them to have fun at all stages of life.
My admiration for elders is deeply rooted in their wisdom. I’ve always had the desire to listen to their life stories and encouraging them to have fun at all stages of life.
The elders who we serve at Center for Elders’ Independence inspire me. They demonstrate that growing old is mandatory but it is a choice to participate in your healthcare. The PACE healthcare model is an interactive experience; one that allows them to be directly involved in their health and engage with others.
I earned my Masters of Science in Social Work from University of Southern California. I began my career providing services to the LGBQTI (HIV+/-) in the San Francisco Bay Area. I gained valuable life experience as a Memory Care Director for elders at residential care facilities and earned my license as an RCFE Administrator. In 2016, I was a social worker for PACE Berkeley and returned to CEI in 2022 as the Center Director at PACE San Leandro.
Outside of work, I enjoy creating new experiences and memories with my children. We go to amusement parks often and love to travel while we patiently wait for Beyoncé to announce a concert.

“Every day, I am inspired to work with seniors as they value their independence as much as I value theirs. I am passionate about the emphasis of team work to make a big difference in the seniors’ lives.”
Every day, I am inspired to work with seniors as they value their independence as much as I value theirs. I see them continue to enjoy living life to the fullest. I am passionate about the way PACE puts a lot of emphasis on how each team works together to make a difference in the seniors’ lives and to keep them safe at home as long as possible.
As a medical student at the University of Santo Tomas located in the Philippines, I earned my medical degree placing myself on the Dean’s List and graduating with high distinction (cum laude). After completing my studies, I did my geriatric medicine with palliative care training at Mount Sinai St Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. My dedication in working with frail elderly patients has been recognized by the MidAtlantic Medical Directors Association and I was awarded the Outstanding Clinical Physician of the Year 2018.
Currently, I am a Diplomate for the American Board of Internal Medicine and am the primary care physician at Center for Elders’ Independence, San Leandro Center joining in 2019. I’m also an active member of the American Geriatrics Society and American College of Physicians among others. I recently earned my Board Certification in Geriatric Medicine.
I speak English and Filipino fluently as well as medical Spanish and basic Chinese.
When I have time off, I find myself enjoying nature trips and discovering new places worth exploring. I also like to stay active by going to the gym regularly and spending quality time with my family and friends, including our dog at home.

“Making a true difference in the life of a senior is a great source of joy for me. Many of our elders struggle to get high quality care and I personally strive to change that.”
Making a true difference in the life of a senior is a great source of joy for me. Many of our elders struggle to get high quality care and I personally strive to change that. I feel passionate and honored to care for them as a healthcare professional. With PACE, I get to interact and learn about my participants’ needs from all perspectives: medical, psychosocial, spiritual and more. I believe that the holistic care model of PACE is the right way to provide that high quality of care our seniors deserve and need.
I started my healthcare career after earning my Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Science from UC Berkeley along with a Masters of Science in Nutrition at Boston University. I joined Center for Elders’ Independence as a registered dietitian and spent two years working with an amazing team improving the quality of life for those participants. Inspired to do more, I returned to UC San Francisco to earn a Masters of Science in Nursing specializing in adult gerontology as a nurse practitioner. I am thrilled to return to Center for Elders’ Independence as this is my calling.
I speak English, Mandarin and Japanese.
Outside of work, I love spending my time with my husband and our newborn daughter. We love to travel, cook for each other and hike the many beautiful trails in the Bay Area. I love the Bay Area as I started my academic journey in 2009 and met my wonderful husband here. It’s my second home.

“Empowering elders to live their lives with dignity and independence inspires me every day.”
I love being part of the amazing care team here at Center for Elders’ Independence as we work together to provide the best primary care to support the goals and wishes of the participants. During my time as a critical care nurse, I cared for many seniors during one of the most difficult times of their lives. Often times, it wasn’t the physical recovery that worried them, but being able to be independent or regain their quality of life was the major stressor. I found myself spending more time encouraging and empowering them to utilize the available resources they have for support and recovery after being discharged from the hospital. Thus, my interest in primary care and preventive medicine was born.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at West Coast University in West Hollywood, California. A couple of years later, I earned my Doctorate Degree of Nursing Practice focusing gerontology from University of Buffalo while working full time as a trauma ICU nurse in a level 1 trauma center in upstate New York.
I am thrilled to join CEI’s medical team and get to know the wonderful seniors here. I speak English and Mandarin Chinese fluently. Outside of work, I enjoy spending my free time exploring the Bay Area. As a family, we love to hike, visit museums and discover new playgrounds for our daughter to play in.
