Care Team at PACE San Leandro

I have found that by working with PACE, I can collaborate with a multidisciplinary team allowing me to address different aspects of a senior’s life to improve their health, activity and general well-being. Being able to intensely manage our participants care, we have the opportunity to keep them independent at home for as long as possible.
After having received my Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., I then attended Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, where I received my medical degree focused on Public Health.
I then completed my post-graduate residency program in internal medicine at UC Davis in Sacramento, California.
I come to CEI with 27 years of experience as a primary care internist in San Francisco. On a more personal level, having cared for my aging parents in San Jose, I am very aware of the challenges families and parents face.
I am fluent in Spanish as well as English.
In my free time, I enjoy listening to a wide variety of both recorded and live music, ranging from jazz to world music. And now that I have finished raising my twin sons, I also look forward to travelling and reading more books.

Making a true difference in the life of a senior is a great source of joy for me. Many of our elders struggle to get high quality care and I personally strive to change that. I feel passionate and honored to care for them as a healthcare professional. With PACE, I get to interact and learn about my participants’ needs from all perspectives: medical, psychosocial, spiritual and more. I believe that the holistic care model of PACE is the right way to provide that high quality of care our seniors deserve and need.
I started my healthcare career after earning my Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Science from UC Berkeley along with a Masters of Science in Nutrition at Boston University. I joined Center for Elders’ Independence as a registered dietitian and spent two years working with an amazing team improving the quality of life for those participants.
Inspired to do more, I returned to UC San Francisco to earn a Masters of Science in Nursing specializing in adult gerontology as a nurse practitioner. I am thrilled to return to Center for Elders’ Independence as this is my calling.
I speak English, Mandarin and Japanese.
Outside of work, I love spending my time with my husband and our newborn daughter. We love to travel, cook for each other and hike the many beautiful trails in the Bay Area. I love the Bay Area as I started my academic journey in 2009 and met my wonderful husband here. It’s my second home.

While in medical school, I decided to devote my career to older adults. The geriatricians I met in training, who emphasized whole-person care and worked to improve quality of life and function, inspired me. The patients inspired me too, with their lifetime of experiences and individuality. I enjoy a patient-centered approach to health and wellness, and enjoy partnering with people on their healthcare goals.
I trained at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed my residency in Primary Care Internal Medicine at UCSF. Since then, I have worked as a geriatric hospitalist, primary care physician, and associate medical director at LifeLong Medical Care
I left this satisfying career to participate in the team-based model of care at Center for Elders’ Independence, a unique gem in our healthcare system.
Outside of work, I spend a lot of time cheering on my son at Little League baseball games.
I enjoy sailing, the beach, reading, and classical music. I hail from Cleveland, Ohio, and have made my home in the San Francisco Bay Area since the late 1990s.

I love the extensive backgrounds of each individual participant I meet. I appreciate the complexity of their needs. I started volunteering in a hospice when I was 19 and have grown very attached to the older community since.
Working in PACE gives me the opportunity to contribute to the cause of removing all barriers to medical care, mental health and physical fitness for the senior community.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from San Francisco State University and then graduated 10 years later with my Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University. After graduation, I volunteered in a student-run clinic for the homeless. This led me to begin my career caring for seniors with dementia, diabetes and other emergency services. I moved back to San Francisco in 2022 to join Brown Physicians as an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner before joining Center for Elders’ Independence in late 2023.
I speak English and Spanish. During my off time, I enjoy trail running, baking and sewing.

I possess a strong passion for promoting independence and advocacy among seniors. Being a part of their support system and serving as an advocate for older adults has provided me with immense joy and fulfillment. With over 20 years of experience in healthcare, I have consistently committed myself to serving underserved populations.
I earned my master's degree in business administration from California State University, Sacramento, where I was raised. My dedication to assisting others has taken me from Nevada to Arizona, and I have now come full circle returning to the Bay Area to work with Center for Elders’ Independence. My background in both business and healthcare enables me to cultivate a collaborative environment that prioritizes the well-being of our participants while ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the center.
I speak English.
In my leisure time, I enjoy traveling and savoring exquisite cuisine with my wife.
